Tribute to Lynford McKenzie

It is with deep sadness that we learned of the passing of Mr. Lynford McKenzie in January. Unfortunately, we were only recently informed of his death.

I first met Lynford when we both served as panelists on the Florida Caribbean Sportline, a program founded by Oliver Solomon. I served as the statistician on the show, and over the years we developed a great friendship and mutual respect.

When I founded Cricket Show USA Inc. in 2010, Lynford was invited to join the panel. He did not hesitate to accept and quickly became one of our most loyal and dedicated contributors. Throughout the years, he played a significant role in the growth and development of the show.

One of Lynford’s most important contributions was recruiting Hall of Famer and host Dennis Heath, who remains a pivotal figure in the success of our program. His ability to recognize talent and bring quality individuals into the organization greatly benefited Cricket Show USA Inc.

Beyond his work with our show, Lynford was a respected cricket writer who contributed articles to the renowned Jamaica Gleaner. He also served for many years as an expert cricket umpire in Texas, earning the respect and admiration of players, officials, and cricket enthusiasts alike.

Lynford’s knowledge of cricket, his dedication to the sport, and his unwavering support of Cricket Show USA Inc. will never be forgotten. He will be missed tremendously by all who had the privilege of knowing and working with him.

His memory will remain with us for a very long time.

On behalf of Cricket Show USA Inc., I extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and the entire cricket community. May they find comfort in the knowledge that Lynford made a lasting impact on the sport he loved and on the many lives he touched.
